Abstract

In this contribution I am going to reflect, firstly, on the relationship that exists between culture and language. In a second step I will explain why I understand this relationship as a cognitive continuum that allows us to build socially shared symbolic worlds. Based on this complex understanding of culture and language, I will then argue why it is important to overcome the notion of intercultural competence in language teaching in favor of an education towards intercultural dialogue. And finally, I will present a ten-step, practical guide for teaching this intercultural dialogue.
